With extreme sorrow, we join the Simmons Family in announcing the death of Sylvia Marie Cox Simmons, 86, of the Pleasant Hill Community, New Bern, who departed this life on Monday, March 13, 2023.

Sylvia will be forever cherished by: two loving daughters, Thalia D. Burt (William) and Subrena E. Davis (Carlton); five grandchildren; two Great-Grandchildren; six sisters, Estell Dessaure (William) of St. Stephens, South Carolina, Rubell Bennet of Freeport, New York, Clemmie Debrew (Robert) of Hempstead, New York, Maggie Cox of Vanceboro, Peggy Davis of New Bern, Dorothy Franklin of Vanceboro and DeVicky Whitfield (Clifton) of Greenville; two sisters-in-law, Alfreda Collins (Charles) and Mary Cox of Vanceboro; and a host of very special nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
