Obituary For Rev. Donell Peterman

Greetings Metropolitan Family,

Please continue to keep Ms. Frances Hartwell and Family lifted in your prayers in the passing of her cousin, Rev. Donell Peterman.

“A charge to keep I have, a God to glorify, a never dying soul to save and fit it for the sky. To serve the present age, my calling to fulfill, O may it all my powers engage to do my master’s will.”

Donell F. Peterman was born on April 5, 1967, in Hollywood, FL. To Jimmie B. and Janice B. Peterman.

He started his early education at Peterman Nursery. He continued his education throughout the Broward County Public Schools, Collins, Oakridge and Dania Elementary, Olsen Middle and graduated from Hollywood Hills High School class of 1985. He went on to attend Morehouse College as a member of the class of 1999. After leaving Morehouse College Donell enlisted in the U.S. Army actively serving in Operation Desert Storm in the Secret Service Operations Detail. After his tour in Desert Storm Donell relocated to Silver Springs, MD. continuing his service with the Army. Donell received an honorable discharge from the US Army. He made Silver Springs, Maryland his home.

Donell became acquainted with introduced to the St. Ruth Missionary Baptist Church, attending church service with his Grandparents Frank and Veta Mae Peterman. Donell joined St. Ruth Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Rev. W.C. Edcar. Donell was active in the Sunday School and Baptist Training Union, Junior Usher Board, Boys’ Scout Troup #149, attended the District State Sunday School and BTU Congress, Youth Department, and was often the Speaker for Youth Day.

Donell was ordained as a minister at St. Ruth Missionary Baptist Church. Forever wanting to fulfill his Master’s will, he Founded the Joshua Group Ministries where he served as the Senior Pastor for over 27 years.

On July 10, 2023, Rev. Donell F. Peterman was called home to be with his heavenly father.

He leaves to cherish his memories and legacy his Mother, Janice B. Peterman; Father, Jimmie B. Peterman; two brothers, Jimmie D. Peterman (Mona), Glendale, Md, Anthony King (Paula) Woodbridge, VA; Sister, Kenya Peterman; Uncle, Jerome R. Baldwin, Godmothers, Linda Anderson, Sulie Spencer and Mamie Gooden-Lee. Four nieces, Yashika Martin (Rodney), Mercedes, Brandy, Akia Delancy (Jarrell); three nephews, Jamaal, Andrew McGee, Akeem McGee; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, Godchildren, spiritual sons and daughters, friends and the Joshua Ministries Group family.
