Obituary For Patricia Ann Coan
Mrs. Patricia Ann (Daniels) Coan, affectionally known as Pat, was born on October 7, 1942, in Washington, D.C., and peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on January 4, 2025. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Pat received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from D.C. Teachers College, now known as the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) and dedicated 31 years to teaching within the D.C. Public School System, where she significantly influenced the lives of countless students.
After her retirement from education, Pat transitioned to a successful career in real estate with Long and Foster, continuing to thrive in this field until her retirement in 2023. Her enduring commitment to education and excellence in real estate exemplified her dedication to service, and her community.
Pat joined the Metropolitan Baptist Church in Washington, D.C., where she remained a faithful, loyal, and dedicated member for 67 years until her death. Pat’s active participation in church organizations and programs included conducting new church member classes, video-taping church services to preserve church history, and teaching vacation bible school. Pat actively participated in church Bible Study classes and was well-known throughout the church for her special bread pudding and other scrumptious desserts.
She loved traveling, cooking, gardening, fashion, and social activities, and will be fondly remembered for her compassion, resilience, and vibrant spirit, which left an indelible mark on her family, friends, colleagues, and the community.
Pat is cherished and lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 58 years, James M. (Max) Coan; her sons Jeffrey (Victoria) Coan and Troy (Shanna) Coan; her grandchildren Brittany Williams, Brandon Hale, Jeffrey Coan Jr., Troy Coan, and Aiden Coan; and her great-grandchildren Kaiden, Kenneth, and Carter Williams.
