Obituary For Myrna LeSheur Lashly

Myrna LeSueur Lashley departed this life on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the Seneca Place Skilled Nursing Facility in Penn Hills.

Myrna was born on September 16, 1938, in Leechburg, PA to the late Daniel LeSueur and Christina LeSueur. Myrna was one of 15 children; 12 preceded her in death: Narrace, Bertha, Maude, Leonard, Laverna, Elmira, Willavene, Flora, Gloria, Daniel Jr., Loretta, and Everett.

Myrna is survived by sisters, Jean Buchanan of Cumming, GA, Gail Powell of Plum Borough; sister in-law, Dianne LeSueur of Leechburg; stepdaughter, Linda Lashley; and stepson, Armel Lashley, both of Plainfield, NJ.

Myrna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Armel Eugene Lashley with whom she was happily married for 27 years. While they married relatively late in life, they shared amazing times together and devoted themselves unconditionally to each other.

While Myrna never had children of her own, she was blessed to have scores of nieces and nephews (way too many to list here) with whom she enjoyed incredibly close relationships, many of whom considered “Aunt Myrna” as a second mother. Words can’t describe the impact that Myrna and her nieces and nephews had on each other.

After graduating from Leechburg High School in 1956, Myrna immediately made the trek to Pittsburgh where she began her adult life. Myrna was employed in a variety of retail sales roles, but her career was elevated when she landed a Regional Sales Representative position with the Reid Meredith Wig Company. Myrna traveled each week to cities across the Eastern and Midwestern United States, where she represented Reid Meridith and their wig and fashion products to major retailers.

Armed with vast knowledge and experience from several years at Reid Meridith, Myrna became the owner of The Fashion Wig Company in Pittsburgh. Myrna thoroughly enjoyed her customers, many of which were cancer patients. Myrna loved her work, even in retirement, she would style her customers’ wigs at home and perform house calls for a few of her special long-term customers.

While work was central in Myrna’s life, her huge group of siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins was equal in importance. Throughout the years, Myrna was instrumental in pulling together members of her large extended family, from all over the country, for family gatherings and large reunions.

Additionally, Myrna had a special group of friends that she connected with through a variety of social events and activities. Myrna cultivated many of her friendships when she was an active member of Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church in Lincoln Larimer and Ebenezer Baptist Church in the Hill District.

Friends received Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 11 AM until time of service at noon at ROSE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 10940 Frankstown Rd., Penn Hills. Interment we be held at the Homewood Cemetery.
