Bereavement and Homegoing

Mary was my co-worker at Allstate Insurance Co. for many years. She was a wonderful person and we loved working together. May God bless her. Maureen Merrow

I met Mary about one year ago while she was having her chemo treatments at Summit Health. I am a volunteer there, and I always looked forward to seeing Mary. She would tell me about her family, all of whom you could tell she loved with all of her heart. She was so appreciative of everything her daughters and grandchildren did for her! I grew up in Plainfield, so we would talk about the changes the city had gone through over the years. She would comment on my outfit and jewelry, I would tell her I wished I had her lovely fingernails (which she said she wouldn’t cut unless one of them broke!). We would pick out blankets, scarves and hats together from the selections volunteers had made and donated. In order to get her to eat a little, we made sure she had a good supply of her favorite candies – York Peppermint Patties and Almond Joys. It was a true honor to have known Mary, if only for a brief time. Rest in peace, my friend!
