Obituary For Hannah C. Smith

Greetings Metropolitan Family,

Please keep Fred and Tina Ball and Family lifted in your prayers in the passing of their aunt, Ms. Hannah C. Smith.

Hannah C. Smith, affectionately known as Billie, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, and friend to many was born June 10th, 1930, to the late Burleigh and Carrie Simmons.

Billie received her formal education through the Charles County Public School System, graduating from Pomonkey High School in 1946. She obtained a degree from Martha Washington Vocational School. After more than 30 years of service, she retired from the Naval Base in Indian Head, Maryland as a seamstress. She continued to have a second career in the Charles County School System.

Billie loved the Lord. She was a member of the St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church. She willingly served in many capacities in her church and the Mattawoman Rod and Hunt Club Women’s Auxiliary. She loved to travel, sew, play cards and go to Bingo.

She is survived by her children, Joseph “Lonnie” Smith (Vicky) and Angella R. Davis (James); and her siblings-in-law, Benny Smith and Irma “Chic” Gray. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, niece.
