Auntie Naun, it pains my heart to see you go! I could never ask God for a better aunt. Your love, laughter, encouraging words always inspired me. Your sweet cooking still leaves a taste in my mouth. I mean every single dish you made was excellent. Even when you were upset, you made me laugh, especially when Judith was running late to pick you up for church and you would say “I am aggravated”. I encourage myself with the fact that God gave you an assignment here on earth and you completed it and God took you home to be with Him. Rest in peace my sweet Auntie until we meet again when we can catch up from where we left off. You will never be forgotten. Mass Junior, Janice and Judith, grandchildren, please take comfort in the assurance that she is resting in the arms of her savior. I pray that God will comfort and give you peace. In loving memory

Tribute from Bladensburg Elementary School-Bladensburg, Maryland USA

To the Family of the Late Florence Jane Haughton:
Our school community mourns the loss of the passing of the mother of our dear school principal, Dr. Judith Haughton Williams. We encourage the members of the immediate and extended families to grieve with hope knowing that your mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother lived a full life! This life was full because of the selflessness of Mrs. Florence J. Haughton-who impacted scores of people from her hometown (Jamaica, W.I.) to her home (in NY) for the past 45 years! Throughout the past 14 years that her daughter has served as principal of Bladensburg Elementary School, we have been privileged to meet and interact with Mrs. Haughton on her visits to Maryland. We feel directly impacted by her love, discipline, and dedication to excellence by the fruits of Dr. Williams’ service and labor at our school!

We trust that the coming days, weeks, months, and years may strengthen your faith and family bonds so that the values and traditions Mrs. Florence held dear and established may continue. It is in so doing that you would truly be honoring her legacy. As her favorite flowering plant was the rose, be reminded that she is now free from the thorns of this life and has overcome disappointment, pain, and suffering. She is now blooming and at peace with her maker and redeemer in a land “where the roses never fade.” On behalf of the administration, students, faculty, staff, parents, and school partners, please accept our sincerest condolences.
    “There’s a song in every silence, seeking word and melody;
There’s a dawn in every darkness, bringing hope to you and me.
From the past will come the future; what it holds, a mystery,
Unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.”

The memory I have of her was her sense of humor, her kindness, her love for everyone. The first time her met her was when she was taking care of my grandson when he was born. I was drawn to her immediately. She is safe in the arms of Jesus, safe on his gentle breast. Rest in peace ☮️ and rise in glory 🙏🏾☮️

My beloved Aunt/Mother, The world stood still on March 20, 2023, and the feeling of numbness, emptiness, confusion ensued momentarily when I heard the sad news of your passing. This was repeat of the sting I felt only just 3yrs ago when my mom (your sister) died. The pain in terms of intensity was incomparable realizing that now I am a true orphan. I rebuked the words death on March 10th 8:30pm when you told me in you sick bed laying in the hospital that you only waiting on God’s time. With your kind heart asking me to thank everyone that was taking care of you. My wish was that you lived to see 100yrs but realized that God has the final say and no age is covenant so I bow to God’s time. As a mother/aunt you were exceptionally caring, submissive as a wife, dependable as a sister and true friend. Your positivity impacted the life of so many with your loving peaceful and generous deposition. Rest in Peace aunty Naun, Aunt Flo, Jane, Florence and last wash Belly. I will always miss you and your phone calls everyday.

My beloved auntie Naun was a kind, beautiful, vivacious, loving, spirit-filled woman. She loved her family and delighted in children. I was so blessed to have Aunt Naun, Uncle Junior, Janice and Judith living nearby my family in Brooklyn when we emigrated to the United States from Jamaica when I was just 10 years old. New York can be a cold and unfriendly place. I thank God for my loving family during that time. Auntie nauns house was one of my favorite places to visit while I was growing up in Brooklyn. Her home was always warm and inviting. She would always greet me and my sister with a warm embrace. Janice and Judith were role models for my sister and I growing up. My family went to church with auntie Naun and her family at times as well. I was especially blessed to have Auntie Nauns help after I had my first son, Sean. As a working mother, the thought of returning to work and leaving your child in the hands of strangers can be daunting. I was living in Queens and worked in Brooklyn, trying to figure out how to make this work out. I was so blessed to have auntie Naun’s help. She stepped in to care for my precious first born son and I knew that he was in great hands with her. She took such wonderful, loving care of him. She had a way with children. She was a nurturer. I am so grateful to her for the care that she gave to him as a baby. My family moved out of New York but whenever I saw auntie Naun at family gatherings she always asked me about Sean. I would keep her updated on his development at those times. When I learned of her illness recently, I was able to speak with her in the hospital. She was so excited to hear about Sean who is now 18 years old and getting ready to graduate from High school. I shared his graduation photos with her and photos of the rest of my family for her to enjoy. I did not know that that would be the last time that I would speak to her. I thank God that I had the chance to share that with her before she passed away. She was an incredibly significant matriarch in this family. She has made her transition but she will never be forgotten. She was a faithful servant of the Lord. She meant so much to so many.

    A Place Called Heaven
I have a place that waits for me
A place I love, called Calvary
Where angels sing and rejoice all day
And children laugh, run and play.

Here the Master holds my hand
As we walk through Heavens land.
This is the place Ive dreamed of for so long
So beautiful, so heavenly like the angels song.

Rest in heaven my beloved aunt Naun.

Auntie Naun, I will never stop loving you and will miss you tremendously. God chose to bring you home and though we are sad, we know that you are resting in paradise with Him, and Auntie B, and my beloved mother. Rest, rest, rest. We love you forever. Thank you for everything that you did for me, my friends, and all of us; for pouring into us and for the love and laughter you left with us. God bless your precious soul Queen Florence. RIP.

To my dear Uncle, dearest cousins and your families, As you all embrace the homegoing of your precious wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, take comfort in Gods grace knowing that she is good. You all have blessed my beloved aunt with joy, pride and much laughter. There was not a time when we spoke that she was not extolling her love for you all and praying that you all were alright. Oh how much she looked forward to her precious time with Roman. I do believe that if she could have gone to school with you Roman, that she would. Like so many of your other family members, I wanted her here forever. Auntie would not have succumbed had she not had faith in knowing that God will watch over you all and protect you throughout next phase of life. She felt it was okay to let go for now. She is now resting in Gods hands healed and pain free. She is singing and rejoicing as much in heaven as she had done here with us all. I can extoll my condolences over and over but it would not erase or remove the pain and loss that you are feeling now. Take comfort that with each passing day, you get stronger and become more determined to hold your head up and face each new day that you are blessed to see, knowing that Florence Jane Haughton was and will forever remain a strong force, that expects nothing but the best from you all. Make her as proud. Warm embraces, Doren
