Clara was a dedicated teacher for 35 years at Simpson T. Waverly School, Hartford, CT, where Clara inspired countless students with her passion for learning and unwavering commitment to education.

Born in Hartford, Connecticut, Clara nurtured a love for knowledge that she passed on to her students, encouraging them to dream big and pursue their aspirations. Her career was marked by her innovative teaching methods and ability to connect with each child, making a lasting impact on their lives. Clara was also a devoted member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. She was an active Soror through Hartford Alumnae Chapter, where she was adamant about sisterhood and friendship.

Clara was a devoted wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Steve and her son Geoffrey. She is survived by her son, Jamal, who carries forward her legacy of kindness and resilience. Clara is also survived by her dear brother, Nelson Carter Sr; two adoring grandchildren, Nya and Josh Chambers, and a host of nieces and nephews including Greg Carter and his wife Cheryl, Nelson Carter Jr., and Pamela Carter and her husband Lloyd; two godchildren, McKenzie and Taylor, and a host of other close relatives and friends, all of whom were touched by her love and wisdom.
