Bobby Gene Campbell born October 20, 1938, departed this life Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Fairmont Crossing Health and Rehabilitation Center, Amherst, VA. He was the son of the late Herman and Fannie Campbell. Bobby was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Campbell; brothers, Richard, Thomas, Theodore and Junior Smith, and Elmore Campbell.

Bobby was born, raised, and educated in Amherst County. He was a humble and devoted man of God. He joined New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Amherst at an early age and was very active in the church. He served as Chairman of the Deacon’s Ministry until his health failed. He always made sure the pulpit was filled when the church was without a pastor. He held other positions in the church such as A Member of the Senior Choir, Usher Ministry, Custodian, and Van Driver. You could always depend on him to have the church doors open for services, welcoming people with such a sweet spirit.
