- Collaborative Church Communities for Sustainable Ministries
Metropolitan Baptist Church received a $1.2 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. to help establish The Collaborative Church Communities for Sustainable Ministry (CCCSM). The project is funded through Lilly Endowment’s Thriving Congregations initiative. The aim of the initiative is to encourage the flourishing of congregations by helping them deepen their relationships with God, enhance their connections with each other, and contribute to the vitality of their communities and the world. CCCSM is a year-long program designed to help congregations assess their state of ministry, map out ways to move forward that are appropriate for them, and ensure that they have the spiritual and natural tools for their congregations to thrive. Metropolitan recruited ten churches for the inaugural CCCSM Cohort.
The four (4) program pillars are:
- Fostering spiritual formation ministries that are relevant to the lives of congregants and connecting congregants more deeply to God
- Strengthening ministries that promote healing and address the increasing mental health and wellness needs of congregants
- Reaching and nurturing the spiritual lives of youth and young adults
- The use of digital technologies to support ministries more effectively
This peer learning collaborative will provide comprehensive dynamic approaches to ministry, particularly addressing a myriad of issues created and exacerbated by the
COVID-19 pandemic.
