Bereavement Ministry
The Bereavement Ministry will be holding its Annual “A Time to Remember” service on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 10:00 AM via Zoom. We invite you to join us to celebrate those whom death has taken from our midst this past year. Our very own Rev. Arnette Georges will be our officiant, and other special guests will lift our hearts. CDC and Matthew 25 Ministries
Metropolitan Family, please support the Christian Discipleship Council and the Matthew 25 Ministries as they kick-off their Annual Supper Bowl Sunday Food Drive. All donations will benefit our We Are One Body Food Pantry. Your donations can be dropped on Sundays, January 22, 29, and February 5 in the Chapel. The following items are needed: Oatmeal, Cereal, Peanut Butter, Jelly, Syrup, Canned meats Chicken, Tuna, Salmon, Sardines; Soups – Amy’s Lentil Soup, Chicken Noodle, and Tomato Soup. You may also donate to the pantry via our 5 giving options – just be sure to select or note “Food Pantry”. Your contribution will help us continue to be a blessing by extending our CARE to underserved communities in the DMV.

Children & Youth Church
Metropolitan Youth! Children and Youth Church is a fun place for kids PreK-3 through 12th grade to learn lessons about God’s love! Meet us on 1st, 2nd, and 4th Sundays in the Administrative wing of the church while parents and guardians are in 10:00 AM Worship! We want each of you to attend this spiritually engaging and fun experience we call Children and Youth Church; so, make sure your parents get you vaccinated and be sure to wear a mask.

All Metropolitan middle and high school students are invited to register for the Elevate “Lock-In” 2023 on Friday, February 17 at 7:00 PM, ending February 18 at 8:00 AM. This will be a joint event with neighboring church, Abundant Life Chapel, and will feature a Go-Go band, a 360 machine, food, games, and more! Deaf Ministry
Metropolitan’s Deaf Ministry has proudly interpreted every worship service for years. NOW we are expanding our services to interpret other ministry activities as needed. Emerge Young Adult Ministry
Metropolitan! It’s time to start preparing for all that God will do through us in 2023! Join the Emerge Young Adult Ministry for their annual “Unplug: Reducing Distractions” initiative in January. There are two ways you are encouraged to participate. Fast and pray with us for a two-week social media fast from January 4th through 18th.
We also would love for you to grow with us on Saturdays at 12:00 noon as we read and discuss the YouVersion devotional plan “How to Read & Study the Bible for Yourself.” Join us for one or both activities. Whatever you decide, we want to offer encouragement and accountability all month long to get your year started off right!

HIV/AIDS Ministry
The HIV/AIDS Ministry needs you as we begin our work for 2023. We need you to help us help families still being infected and affected by this disease. We need you to pray, make phone calls, and work with community organizations or churches involved in this important ministry. Join us on January 14th at 10:00 AM for a virtual open house where you get more information and get your questions answered. If you can’t make this date, we’ll be present in the Small Chapel on Sunday, January 15th to sign you up. IAMA
Our IAMA Ministry is excited to offer some NEW CAPI Classes in 2022! Register today for “A New Look at Child Abuse and Mandated Reporting,” offered on January 9, 16, and 23 from 7:00 PM-9:00 PM. This two-hour session taught by Dr. Sherrill McMillan will meet all the requirements for new volunteers and continuing education. It will include the history of child abuse and reporting, as well as current industry trends and requirements that affect parents and teachers who volunteer with the MBC Children and Youth Ministry. The Metropolitan Baptist Church takes a moment to celebrate Mrs. Janel Merritt! She resigned from her position as director of Music and Arts in November, but the shared time, talent, and treasure to support, lead, and nurture the Metropolitan Baptist Church Music Ministry for 32 years was unparalleled. Her stellar work ethic and approach to ministry through love speaks for itself. She has singlehandedly touched the lives of multiple generations at Metropolitan.
