Kristin 'Kris' Hicks

Kristin “Kris” Hicks serves as our Creative Director, utilizing a broad scope of entertainment industry knowledge to produce and manage many creative needs of our Church. She develops and gives oversight to all branding, video production, social media, website management, graphics and church-wide announcements and communications.

Kris’ professional experience began in sports and entertainment as a college intern to NBA Superstar Michael Jordan and NBA legend, Wes Unseld of the Washington Wizards franchise. This was followed by an invitation to participate in the infamous NBC Page Program (NBC Universal), where she learned the inner workings of television production, music and product placement. Her skills broadened to include producing live video and still photo shoots, branding, concert production, VIP talent booking / handling and producing on-air promotional spots over the next 15 years.

In addition to her work experience with entities such as NBC Universal, BET, ABC Disney and the Discovery Networks, Kris is an honors graduate from Johnson C. Smith University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Arts. She furthered her studies in Communications and Entertainment (Public Relations) at California State University, Fullerton, where she obtained her Master of Arts degree with honors. Her thesis, a documentary entitled Yvette Lee Bowser: Strength In The Struggle, highlighted the accomplishments of producer, Yvette Lee Bowser (Living Single, Half & Half), other African American female television producers, and shed light on the thirst for diverse representation in front of and behind the camera – a struggle that still exists today.

Armed with a motivational management style and imagination, Kris is also the Executive Producer of Rhythm And Views Productions, a multi-faceted entertainment company offering video production, music clearance and placement, photography, talent booking and live event / concert management services.

Notably, Kris is the daughter of our Senior Servant Emeritus, Dr. H. Beecher Hicks, Jr. and she CARES deeply about Metropolitan. She brings an ever-increasing degree of consistent creativity to Metropolitan – capturing the hearts of as many people possible through her work in efforts to bring them closer to Him.
